Boughton burglar sent to prison

A 41-year-old man has been handed a prison sentence after pleading guilty to a Northampton burglary.

On March 13, 2022, Phillip Gordon Dennis, previously of Northampton, entered a home in Badeslade, Boughton, and stole a mobile phone, cash and bank card. He then went on to fraudulently use the bank card at three separate locations.

Following an investigation by Northamptonshire Police’s Burglary Team, Dennis was identified as the offender, arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of burglary and three counts of fraud by false representation.

He originally pleaded not guilty to the offences, but changed his plea when he appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Monday, October 17, and was sentenced to three years and one month in prison.

Lead investigator, PC Mark Edkins, said “Phillip Dennis is a prolific burglar who is now in prison as a result of our investigation and therefore unable to burgle anyone else’s home.

“This is a great result for the people of Northamptonshire as burglary is a hugely invasive crime, the effect of which on a victim is often underestimated by many.

“I hope this case shows our continuing commitment to tackle burglary in this county as part of Op Crooked and bring any offenders to justice.”
