Steve McNeill’s passion for music and broadcasting ignited at just 14, spinning records as a DJ in Northampton. A scratch DJ in the early ’80s, his first gig was at the iconic Northampton Roller Disco, where the council offices now stand.
By 16, Steve was on the mic in the student common room at Northampton College of Further Education, announcing fashion shows and events through the Student Union sound system. At 17, he landed his first nightclub residency at Whilton Locks near Daventry, quickly moving on to the Top of the Town club.
His DJ career flourished, with residencies across the UK, including the Italian Jazz Café in Luton, Ritzy Nightclub in Northampton, and iconic venues like London’s Buzz Club and Birmingham Ritzy. Over six years, Steve became a household name at Northampton’s Ritzy Nightclub, entertaining thousands every weekend until its closure in 2000.
Steve’s radio journey began in 1991 after completing a course at the Horizon Radio School of Broadcasting. He further sharpened his skills with former Radio 1 presenters Neal James and Bruno Brooks. His on-air career took off in 1997 at Inspiration FM and expanded to Connect FM, Vibe FM, and Lite FM in Peterborough.
With over 25 years of radio experience, Steve now brings his charisma and expertise to Revolution Radio, delivering unbeatable mid-morning entertainment. When he’s not on air, you might find him reminiscing about his club days at legendary venues like Ricks Place in Norwich, Secrets, or Mulliners.
